Thomas Richard "Tom" Carper (born January 23, 1947) is an American politician who was the United States Senator from Delaware from 2001 to 2025.

A member of the Democratic Party, Carper served in the United States House of Representatives from 1983 to 1993 and was the 71st Governor of Delaware from 1993 to 2001.

In May 2023, Carper announced that he would not run for re-election in the 2024 election.
