Systematic element name

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Systematic names are given by IUPAC to discovered elements like element 106 and beyond. The parts of the names are nil=0, un=1, bi=2, tri=3, quad=4, pent=5, hex=6, sept=7, oct=8, and enn=9. The last part of the name is ium. Element 110's older name was ununnilium (un-un-nil-ium), which means 110, and the same for element 118, ununoctium (un-un-oct-ium), which means 118.
