Smile is an American psychological supernatural horror movie. It was first shown at the Fantastic Fest movie festival on September 22, 2022 and then released in theatres on September 30.[1][2] It was directed and written by Parker Finn. Finn based the movie off of his 2020 short movie Laura Hasn't Slept.[3]
In the movie, therapist Dr. Rose Cotter gets infected by a demon that she got from one of her patients after seeing them commit suicide. She beings to see supernatural events that get worse over time and tries to stop them from happening by dealing with a past event in her life.[4]
A sequel, Smile 2, was released on October 18, 2024.

The movie recieved positive reviews from critics. It holds a 80% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.[5] The movie was very successful at the box office. Worldwide it made $217.4 million.[6]
Smile was nominated for Best Movie and Sosie Bacon was nominated for Most Frightened Performance at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards.[7] The movie was also nominated for Best Horror Film at the 51st Saturn Awards.[8]
