The outcome of this request for deletion was to File:Symbol delete vote.svg Delete. After review of the arguments, the comments for keeping the article mostly had to do with the news stories and publicity related to the death of the person, rather than any Wikipedia guideline. On the other hand, many of the comments supporting deletion provided valid policy and guideline-based arguments on why the article should be deleted. This deletion applies to the subject of the article, his death, and any other closely related subjects. If, in the future, there are valid reasons per Wikipedia guidelines to restore the article, a deletion review should be opened. Best, -Griff (talk) 15:45, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

  • Want to share that this recently published Vice Article "Is Porn Destroying Us?" discussed Malone and that is what led me to this Wikipedia.
Alas, Google results for Nautica Malone are populated by news of his death - with or without the wiki article.
With the long term effects of pornography and gooning unknown, Malone is a subject of impacts from gooning, pornography and masturbation.
The Wikipedia article for Malone is about the incident of his death as it seems this is what he is most known for.

    I strongly agree with your statement about the importance of this article. I understand that the subject matter of this article may be sensitive, but it is integral to create a place where uncomfortable topics can be shared in order for people to better grasp the dangers of engaging in public indecency. 一樣月光 (talk) 19:06, 7 February 2025 (UTC)

A suicide, while tragic, if generally not going to be notable by itself. There's clearly been some trolling around this, and probably some nonsense from various forums that delight in mocking others. w:WP:ONEEVENT has some excellent advice that's relevant here and supports deleting the article.     I want to add that this man is not notable per en:WP:BLP1E. Many criminals killed themselves out of shame or fear of repercussion, it's nothing new or special. The only difference is that it usually happens behind the bars, so you don't see it and it doesn't make it to the news. Not notable at all, just a target for trolls and such. Malone is only notable for his public suicide, which violates WP:BIO1E and WP:NOTNEWS—Wikipedia isn’t the place to document single, tragic events, especially when there’s no lasting significance beyond the news cycle. Reliable, independent coverage about Malone’s life outside this one event is also nonexistent, making the article heavily reliant on questionable sources like TMZ and Twitter. On top of that, this page has clearly become a target for trolling and mockery, as seen here and in the English Wikipedia discussion, where it was already deleted. Keeping it risks further harm to his family and contradicts WP:CRIME and WP:NOTHARASS. Arguments for keeping the article because of its relevance to internet culture or pornography are speculative at best—those topics can be addressed without sensationalizing someone’s death. Overall, this article doesn’t meet notability standards, it perpetuates trolling, and it lacks encyclopedic value. Deletion is the best move here.. LJF2019 (talk) 03:31, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

    KEEP We need to educate ourselves on the goon lord in order to better understand what could drive someone to do that, the argument that because this was the only thing he accomplished in his life and as such we should not keep the wiki page is flawed because many people have only contributed to the world in one way before dying. The fact that this was a significant cultural event makes the argument to keep even stronger. Many people have only done one significant thing in their life and have gotten recognized for it, and in this day and age with the internet more and more people are seeing the goon lord, so it is important to recognize these events to prevent them from happening in the future.

  • File:Symbol delete vote.svg Delete Looking at WP:CRIM, this definitely does not meet any of the requirements - memes die out all the time, and this is nowhere near notable enough, nor has he been documented anywhere near enough outside of this one specific event. Plus, it fails WP:NOTHARASS, WP:NOTNEWS, and several other WP standards. Until the day that he is used as an emblem for mental health awareness for hyper-sexuality, or the effects of pornography, or something of that nature, delete. Goon in peace, Nautica.
