List of sequenced animal genomes[change]
- List of sequenced animal genomes (edit · talk · history · links · watch · logs · delete) · close request
Eptalon has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: Article contains of one sentence, and a list of Binomial names for animals, whose genome has been sequenced. We of course don't have most of these animals in SEWP, and very often, they don't appear under their Latin name. This lisating is a nightmare to upkeep, and adds little to no information value. Those who need this information can probably get it from some database. I would therefore propose deletion. Note: this is just about deleting the list article. Comments? - File:Symbol keep vote.svg Keep most list pages on this wiki have many red links. I see no valid reason to delete. Is a useful page for seeing what we need to create. Some have been created, so it is not entirely red links. --IWI (talk) 14:20, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- File:Symbol keep vote.svg Keep List can have red links. In fact it is standard practice on this wiki that we expect a lot of red links. And on a wiki like ours we very much expect to eventually have all of the articles in this list. Poor nomination. The information and value in this list is to know what animal genomes have been sequenced. Remember a lists notability comes from the list as a whole, not the individual items on the list. -Djsasso (talk) 14:24, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- File:Symbol keep vote.svg Keep - I also originally thought this should be deleted for numerous reasons, however, after some discussion on my talk page, and what is presented here, I agree with keeping it. PotsdamLamb (talk) 16:33, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- What is the reason I brought this stuff over? It is because of its long-term significance rather than any present-day pay-off. I expect, over the next century, that this will be the basis of many theoretical and practical advances in the biological sciences. Though I can't foresee exactly what those advances will be, the genomes are an addition to our knowledge, and an important one at that. There are actually two pages, because DJS has split off the Deuterostome list into a separate page. It contains most of the more familiar animals. Overall, this is Crick & Watson stage two, if you like. Macdonald-ross (talk) 19:16, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
