The outcome of this request for deletion was to File:Symbol keep vote.svg Keep. Okay as an alternative. If we decide otherwise in the future, it can just be redirected. Osiris (talk) 21:32, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Template:Sequence[change]
Auntof6 has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: Duplicates function of Template:Succession box. Now used only on a user page, since I replaced it in the only articlespace page. Auntof6 (talk) 05:20, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
Please discuss this request below, but keep in mind that you shouldn't vote on everything and that there may be options other than "keep" or "delete", such as merging.
Discussion[change]
- Comment - Keeping {{sequence}} is actually preferred to keeping {{succession box}} because {{sequence}} in its current state uses the {{s-ttl}} series of templates (look at the template's source code). That being said, I quote the documentation on EN for one of the templates:
- {{sequence}}: "Do not use this template for the purpose of depicting succession, for example in biographies of officeholders." and "This template may still be useful for other sequences, especially simple ordered lists of articles without associated spans of years." - Keep I don't think that it is preferable to succession box, but I do believe it is a valid alternative to it per what Chenzw mentions. I've also readded it to the article page that was using it until the discussion closes one way or the other. -DJSasso (talk) 12:34, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
- Comment - A discussion about format consistency is trivial, but it may have consequences in large
cohortsclasses or categories of articles, for example
- Category:Popes ... compare Template:WesternSchism?
- Category:Emperors of Japan ... compare Template:Timelines of nengo and reigns?
- As explained at User talk:Clarkcj12#Succession box format, this is relevant in many articles which each have a common succession box format -- for example, see Category:Japanese eras.
