The Rambling Man has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: Too specific by a long way. At the moment we have only something like 35 stub templates, including broad subjects like history and biology. I don't believe Iowa has a similar level of significance. My suggestion is to delete this template but use the more generic US-geo-stub in its place. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:09, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

- Support Too specific. Might as well just redirect or replace its articles with the Us-geo stub tag. -DJSasso (talk) 16:19, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Support deletion - US-geo stub tag should be used instead. --Orashmatash 16:20, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Support - Too specific. Redirect to US. Normandy (talk) 16:45, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Note the 2010 discussion that created the stub - Wikipedia talk:Simple Stub Project/Archive 3#Iowa-stub. If deleted, University of Northern Iowa should be replaced with US, others with US-geo--Philosopher Let us reason together. 19:16, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- As I said in the nomination, stub should be replaced to US-geo-stub... The Rambling Man (talk) 20:41, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- He's noting one case, though, where it should not be to geo, but to just general US. Only (talk) 20:52, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, well we'll have to actually use our brains when we replace the stub templates and I'm sure this isn't the only case. So I guess my point is that instead of just skipping back to {{stub}} we can be more intelligent than that, and the US-geo stub will suit mostly. But not always. Obviously.
