Nicotiana is a genus of herbaceous plants and shrubs. They grow in the Americas, Australia, south west Africa and the South Pacific. The common name for plant species of the genus Nicotiana is tobacco plants.
One of the species is N. tabacum. It is grown worldwide to make tobacco leaf for cigarettes and other tobacco products. Other species are grown as ornamental garden plants.
