Claude Jade
Claude Marcelle Jorré, better known as Claude Jade (French: [klod ʒad]; 8 October 1948 – 1 December 2006) was a French actress. She was known for starring as Christine in François Truffaut's three movie Stolen Kisses (1968), Bed and Board (1970) and Love on the Run (1979). Jade was born in Dijon, France.
Jade died on 1 December 2006 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France of uveal melanoma and liver disease at the age of 58.
Career[change]
Claude Jade studied acting at the State Conservatory in Dijon. She was already acting in television series in Paris when she was discovered at the theatre by François Truffaut: She played the leading role in his film Stolen kisses (1968). A year later, she played Alfred Hitchcock's American film Topaz. One of her most successful roles was in 1969 as Manette alongside Jacques Brel in Mon oncle Benjamin by Édouard Molinaro.
Claude Jade continued to act in films by François Truffaut (Bed and Board, Love on the Run) and achieved great popularity as the heroine of the series The Island of 30 Coffins (1979). Claude Jade has worked internationally in the US, Japan, the Soviet Union, Italy, Belgium and Germany. She has appeared in 80 cinema and television productions. She also continued to act in the theatre. Her last role was Célimène in the play Célimène et le cardinal in 2006.
