Barnard is a city in Lincoln County, Kansas, United States. In 2020, 64 people lived there.[3]

History[change]

Barnard was first settled in 1888. It was incorporated as a city in 1904.[4] Barnard was named for J.F. Barnard, a railroad employee.[5]

Geography[change]

Weather[change]

Barnard has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Barnard has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[6]

2020 census[change]

The 2020 census says that there were 64 people, 34 households, and 18 families living in Barnard. The median age was 60.0 years. Of the people, 85.9% were White, 1.6% were Pacific Islanders, and 12.5% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.1% of the people.[3][7]

2010 census[change]

The 2010 census says that there were 70 people, 43 households, and 16 families living in Barnard.[8]

Education[change]

Barnard is part of USD 298 Lincoln.[9]

Barnard schools were closed through school unification. The Barnard High School mascot was Cardinals.[10]
