Ananda Mahidol (Thai: อานันทมหิดล; RTGS: Ananthamahidon; 20 September 1925 – 9 June 1946), also known as Rama VIII, was King of Thailand, reigning from 1935 until his assassination in 1946.

Ananda was born in Heidelburg, Baden, in the Weimar Republic and died on June 9, 1946 at the Boromphiman Throne Hall at the Grand Palace in Bangkok, aged 20. He was believed to have either committed suicide or may have been assassinated.
