Hassan Yazdani is a famous freestyle wrestler from Iran. He's really good at wrestling and has won lots of prizes. He won gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics and has been the best in the world three times.[2] He won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. [3]

Career[change]

Hassan Yazdani won gold at the 2014 Junior World Championships in the 66 kg category, defeating Aaron Pico. In 2015, he earned a silver medal at the Senior World Championships, losing to Magomedrasul Gazimagomedov.

At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Yazdani moved up to 74 kg and claimed gold by defeating Aniuar Geduev in the final. He later moved to 86 kg, winning gold at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games and dominating top wrestlers like Sharif Sharifov and Selim Yaşar. That same year, he won gold at the World Wrestling Championships in Paris, losing only two points throughout the competition.

Yazdani won silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, losing to David Taylor. He avenged this loss by beating Taylor at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships.

In 2019, Yazdani won gold at the World Championships after his opponent Deepak Punia withdrew. He defeated Punia again in a one-sided match at the 2022 Asian Games, winning 10-0. He also earned silver at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships, losing to Taylor in both finals.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Yazdani won a silver medal in the 86 kg freestyle event.
