Arak (Persian: اراک) is a city in Iran. It is the capital of the Markazi province and the Arak County. In 2016, 520,944 people lived there. It is the main industrial center in the country. The city has many factories that makes machinerymetal and petrochemical industries.

Arak has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Dsa in the Köppen climate classification). The weather is fairly cold and dry. Summers are hot and dry, while winters are cold and snowy.
