Area code 906 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) serving the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the United States. It covers a large, mostly rural region, including cities such as Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, and Escanaba. It was created in 1961 as a split from area code 616.
