Hmong or Mong is the name for a number of languages spoken in parts of mainland China, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. The ethnic group is called the Hmong people. There are about 3.7 million speakers. Most of the speakers of different Hmong languages can understand each other. Over half of all speakers live in China. There are about 280,000 Hmong speakers in the United States
