• This tag can be used to clarify a {{wikify}} request that was placed primarily to generate additional internal links, especially where there are few or no internal links. An optional parameter can be specified to give other Wikipedians an idea of what general topic this article covers so that they may add links relevant to it. It can be applied in addition to the {{wikify}} tag or by itself.
• If removing this tag, the user should also check to see if further formatting is still needed, and if not, remove the {{wikify}} tag as well.
• This template will add pages to Category:Dead-end pages or one of its dated subcategories.
• If a parameter is provided such as {{Dead end|date=June 2025}} then the page is put into a by-date category instead. Another way to do this is to paste the following to the page: {{subst:dated|Dead end}} If the date is left out, a bot will add it.
• The simplest way to add this template to an article is to copy and paste

  to the top of an article. You may also drop it into the top of a section, but please specify the "|section" option to generate the proper template text.
• Please do not subst: this template. Use of the {{dated}} template does require a subst:, which is used to save the current date.
• Please do not include Category pages.
• Date tagging syntax: {{Dead end|date=June 2025}} or {{Dead end|Food|date=June 2025}}
