The first capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was KernavÄ—. It served as the political center of the Grand Duchy from the late 13th century until the early 15th century before Vilnius became the permanent capital. KernavÄ— is located in present-day Lithuania and is known for its historical and archaeological significance.
