The dunnock (Prunella modularis) is a small passerine perching bird.
The bird has a very wide distribution. It is found throughout temperate Europe and into Asian Russia. Dunnocks have been introduced into New Zealand.
The bird is by far the most widespread member of the "accentors". These are a genus in the family Prunellidae. Other common names of the dunnock include hedge accentor, hedge sparrow, and hedge warbler.[1]
